The ecology and conservation of Hydrocynus vittatus (Castelnau, 1861) in the Kavango River, Namibia

This research reviews the regional importance of inland fisheries and then the current situation regarding fisheries specifically in Namibia. For this assessment the African tigerfish (Hydrocynus vittatus) has been selected as a flagship indicator species. More specifically this project reviews experimental survey data collected over the past 20 years across Namibia. Thereafter it assesses the use of protected areas by determining the home range and habitat use of tigerfish from the Kavango River. Finally it aims to document the implications for conservation management of the species.
