DIFS/ SAIAB Seminar Series 2018

Prof Paul Cowley (Principal Scientist, SAIAB)

Insights into the coastal movements and mortality of selected sharks and rays equipped with acoustic transmitters

Making use of data collected by SAIAB’s Acoustic Tracking Array Platform (ATAP), this presentation will share new information on several under-studied sharks and rays. The preliminary findings not only reveal aspects of their movements and habitat use patterns but also some insight on potentially high mortality rates, which are all important for the conservation of these vulnerable species with unfavourable life-history characteristics.

Date: Thursday, 21 June 2018

Time: 10.30am

Venue: Lecture Room, SAIAB, Somerset Street
