Exciting PRIZES to be won!

Inspired by UNESCO, the SAIAB Wellness Committee is running a Heritage Day Competition this year with the theme #OurSAIABAmanziHeritage (Amanzi is a Zulu/Xhosa word meaning water).

From carrying nutrients to cells in our bodies, to help grow food, prevent spread of diseases and transport goods, Water is life.  Safe and secure access to water promotes empowerment, economic growth and peaceful living. Yet, increasing water crises around the world attest that this precious and essential resource is under threat, due to its scarcity and pollution.

At SAIAB, water is also the fulcrum and essence for our work and research and unfortunately the localised paucity of water in our town and province exposes us to daily challenges.

Given this deep connection of our lives to water, we invite you to express yourself in any artistic form, language, use of media and submit it for the 2021 #OurSAIABAmanziHeritage.

Below are some options of media, but we will be happy to consider other expressions:

  • photos;
  • short videos;
  • music/song composition;
  • poetry;
  • visual arts/drawings/paints;
  • podcasts of storytelling;
  • crafts;
  • dance

 Individual/team applications can be considered.

Preferred formats are: jpeg (photos/images); mpa/mp3 (audio files); mp4 (video); pdf (text files).

If your entry is in the form of a paint/drawing/craft, please take a photo of three stages of the making and include them in your final submission.

Please provide a title and a short text description to your submission and send to: Lucky Dlamini -

Entries close on Friday 8 October and winners will be announced before the end of October 2021.
