Pi constant mathematical symbol source - Google imagesThe world is celebrating Pi Day today 14 March and the ORCID community is celebrating its own #ORCIDPi Day and its 3,141,593rd registrant - who just happens to be SAIAB's very own Principal Scientist, Prof Olaf Weyl!! Asked about this Prof Weyl says he's "Proud to be Pi!" 

ORCID is a member-based, non-profit organization supported by a global community of organizational members, including research organizations, publishers, funders, professional associations, and other stakeholders in the research ecosystem.

Professor Weyl will be receiving his own personalized ORCID teeshirt, a box of delicious ORCID cookies, an ORCID cooking set, and more.

To celebrate with their wider community, ORCID launched the #ORCIDPiDay countdown together with an online competition for the best pie pictures and tweets. Celebrating Pi Day the ORCID Way!
