SAIAB SYSTEMATICS AND ECOLOGY BURSARY (BSC HONS)
The purpose of this bursary, which was established by the South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity (SAIAB) in 2016, is to provide support to one financially needy student pursuing an honours degree in the Department of Ichthyology and Fisheries Science (DIFS) at Rhodes University. This bursary is limited to students intending to pursue careers in the fields of Systematics, Taxonomy and Ecology.
The maximum amount for this once-off bursary is R30 000 per year but SAIAB reserves the right to not award the bursary if no suitable candidate is found.
How to apply
The deadline to apply is 25 February 2017. Completed application forms should be submitted to the DIFS Head of Department who will forward the applications to the SAIAB Selection Committee. The SAIAB Selection Committee comprises three scientists from different aquatic biodiversity disciplines. The Selection Committee meets at the end of February each year to evaluate the applications.
Upon completion of the DIFS Honours project, the candidate is expected to provide a brief report to SAIAB highlighting the key findings of the study.
