Research Interests

My research interests span the fields of ecology, phylogeography, historical biogeography, systematics and conservation.

I am particularly interested in integrating different fields to understand the contemporary and historical factors that drove diversification and shaped the geographical distributions of extant taxa, with an emphasis on stream assemblages. Recently I have worked on endemic stream fishes in the Cape Floristic Region of South Africa, and also on the ecology of streams in Zimbabwe, focusing mainly on macroinvertebrates.
